Our Care

At Bandrum, we provide specialist, person-centred care tailored to the individual needs of each person we support. Our dementia care focuses on compassion, familiarity and meaningful routines that promote comfort and quality of life. We also offer specialist neurological and acquired brain injury care, supporting rehabilitation, independence and long-term wellbeing. In addition, our palliative care is delivered with sensitivity and respect, prioritising comfort, choice and emotional support for individuals and their families at every stage.

Yes, we have a specialist dementia care unit with 12 beds, designed to provide tailored support in a safe and comfortable environment.

Our admissions process varies slightly depending on whether funding is through the local authority or private arrangements. Typically, an initial enquiry can be made via email (admissions@bandrum.co.uk), telephone, or through carehome.co.uk. This is followed by a discussion and an invitation to visit the home. When a room becomes available, we arrange a pre-admission assessment to ensure we can meet the individual’s needs. If suitable, an admission date is then agreed. Further information is available in our “What Happens Next” guide.

If personal funds are no longer sufficient, the local authority can undertake a financial assessment to determine eligibility for support. Where appropriate, they will contribute towards care costs. Residents will not be asked to leave due to changes in financial circumstances.

We do not have fixed visiting times and welcome visitors throughout the day and evening. Where possible, we kindly ask that mealtimes are avoided. Pets are also welcome to visit, and our on-site café is pet friendly.

Integrated Multidisciplinary Working

At Bandrum Nursing Home, high-quality care is delivered through strong, well-established multidisciplinary working. We work in close partnership with a wide range of health, social care and specialist services, ensuring residents receive timely, coordinated and person-centred support that reflects both clinical need and individual priorities.

Our nursing and care teams actively collaborate with community health professionals, specialist nurses, therapists, GPs, advocacy services and hospital-based teams. Referrals are made appropriately and promptly, with clear information sharing, consent processes and ongoing communication to support continuity of care and positive outcomes.

Multidisciplinary support includes, but is not limited to, Tissue Viability Nursing, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics, Podiatry, Community Learning Disability Teams, Oral Health Services, Bladder and Bowel Services, and Independent Advocacy. We also work closely with neurological specialist services, including Huntington’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s services, ensuring residents benefit from expert input throughout their care journey.

Where required, we follow structured communication and escalation pathways, including SBAR, to support safe decision-making and effective collaboration across services. This integrated approach allows us to respond proactively to changes in health, manage complex needs safely, and ensure care is holistic, coordinated and evidence-based.

By working in partnership with multidisciplinary teams, Bandrum ensures residents receive the right care, at the right time, from the right professionals, while maintaining dignity, choice and quality of life at the heart of everything we do.
